This is very open for a 2016 Brunello, yet it’s firm and fresh with pretty length. Medium body with cherry, dried-mushroom, dried-bark, and sandalwood character. Lightly dusty texture. Chewy at the end. Another two or three years will soften the wine. Try after 2023.
What Mat Thought: Surprisingly, already drinking well with several more years of pleasure ahead. Aromas of dark fruit are framed by mocha and baking spice that come to the forefront. Transitioning to more savory notes of mature black plum, violets, and toasted hazelnut on the palate. Finely polished tannins provide this wine with an elegant structure that makes this wine enjoyable from start to finish.
