Exhibiting cherry, raspberry, eucalyptus, iron, and spice aromas and flavors, this supple red is complex and compelling. Supported by a swath of dusty tannins, yet everything feels in the right place. Excellent length. Best from 2027 through 2042. —B.S.
This wine keeps me coming back to the glass to take in its pretty bouquet of dusty florals, exotic spices, and dried strawberries. This is like pure silk on the palate, seamless and supple, with depths of dark red fruit and mineral tones that add a more tactile feel toward the close. Balsam herbs, cedar, and tobacco all resonate throughout the long and dramatic finale. Drink 2025-2031. —E.G.
What We Thought: Notes of licorice and ripe plum grace the nose of this elegant Brunello that displays notes of saddle leather, licorice, black cherry, and plum on the smooth, medium-bodied palate. It is supported by dusty tannins and classic Italian acids... find food; wild boar ravioli would be good.
