Aromas of black cherry, licorice, crushed mint and cocoa powder burst from the glass and mingle on the nose of this Cabernet. The palate gives concentrated flavors of blackberry coulis, black pepper, purple flowers, licorice, pencil shavings and dark chocolate before a richly tannic finish that promises decades of evolution in the cellar. — T.C.
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with more blue fruit and floral notes, presenting a fresh and pure character with aromas of crème de cassis, blueberries, lavender, sweet herbs, and fresh leather. It has the addition of 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Merlot in the blend and was aged for 18 months in 55% new French oak. The palate is plush and inviting, with notes of fresh earth underneath its more primary fruit and a well-defined ripe texture. Drink 2026-2040.
It unfurls dramatically on the nose, red and black cherry preserves giving way to lilac, tobacco, cast iron and new oak spices. The medium-bodied palate is bursting with perfumed fruit. It’s structured by dusty tannins and mouthwatering acidity and has a long, nuanced finish. – E.B.
