Aromas of Chambord, butterscotch, and sage leaf emanate from the glass. Vigorous tannins provide a frame to blackberry, Mission fig, clove, nutmeg, dark chocolate and eucalyptus flavors. Well-integrated acidity plies the palate and stays there for a while. —M.D.
What We Thought: Robust by Spanish standards, this has a black cherry nose and a smooth, medium-bodied palate filled with ripe black cherry and black currant fruit, along with notes of licorice, bitter dark chocolate, and baking spices finishing with nicely rounded tannins.
