Intense golden yellow dress. The nose is full of pineapple and grilled peaches, while the full-bodied palate is opulent and expansive, with a lingering finish tinged with vanilla. Full-bodied on the palate, with a deep and long finish, great richness and a superb ending.
Medium gold-hued, the 2024 Châteauneuf Du Pape La Fontaine Blanc offers rich, complex aromatics of ripe orchard fruits, white flowers, almond paste, and hints of fresh croissant. It's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel, and it’s beautifully layered and textured, with integrated acidity and a blockbuster of a finish. Pure gold in white Rhône, I wouldn't push the aging curve here and would drink bottles over the coming 5-7 years, possibly a decade. Don't let that deter you, though. This is absolutely riveting stuff. Drink 2025-2032.
Here's What We Thought:
This sunny Roussanne from Châteauneuf-du-Pape comes in hot with juicy peach, lemony creaminess, a drizzle of honey, and just a hint of vanilla from the oak. It’s rich and smooth on the palate, but a savory, slightly salty edge keeps it fresh and impossible to sip just once. Pairs perfectly with roast lobster and brown butter, truffled roast chicken, or perfectly seared scallops in beurre blanc. This is a white wine made for people who love great food, big flavors, and going back for another pour. 🍷
