The color of blueberry preserves, this wine offers a bouquet of blackberry, coffee bean, and dried thyme. Coffee transitions to the palate as well, joined by cassis, purple plum, black olive paste, orange zest, and cocoa butter flavors, wrapped in a cocoon of velvety tannins that drift into a lasting mocha-scented finish. —M.D.
What We Thought: This begins with a leathery black cherry nose and moves to an exceptionally smooth, very ripe black cherry and plum fruit palate accented with notes of black pepper and supported by ultra-soft tannins.
