Savory notes of Cabernet Sauvignon are layered with the overt dark fruit character of Petite Sirah. The bouquet of cocoa powder, caramel, and anise works in harmony with the wine’s black cherry fruit signature. Bright and focused on the palate, with a firm and appetizing finish.
Ripe, bold aromas of plums, blackberry compote, blackcurrants, mocha and spices. The palate is full-bodied with a creamy texture and firmly framed tannins. This blend of cabernet sauvignon and petite sirah is not for the faint-hearted.
This bold, attention-grabbing blend of Cab and Petite Sirah begins with rich aromas of stewed black cherry and caramelized oak. The palate’s coffee and toffee flavors decorate the core of black cherry compote. —M.K.
What We Thought: This unique blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah showcase two varieties from J. Lohr’s long family history in the central coast. Lots of rich dark fruit with black cherry and black currant flavors, it is dense and almost viscous. Soft and approachable with very light acidity and tannins, but the usual good representation of this consistent Paso red blend. -Linda Pendleton
