The wine has a lovely architecture of fruit and spice. Perfumed aromas of baked green apples, ginger, vanilla baking spice, quince, and lemon zest open on the honeysuckle-dusted nose. An energetic acidity fills the palate, lifts the fruit structure, and imparts a brightness that gives the wine balance and an attractive airy lightness. —R.S.
What We Thought: Ripe pear and butterscotch notes frame the nose of this atypical French Chardonnay. The palate is nicely rounded with good viscosity and plenty of Bartlett pear and ripe apple fruit, along with more notes of butterscotch and a touch of vanilla.
