Quite striking dark-spice and dark-stone aromas with a very concentrated core of blackberries on the palate that has immense, fleshy appeal and round, fluid tannins. This has a lot of early-drinking appeal. 99% syrah and 1% viognier.
What We Thought: This wine has a big, spicy blackberry nose and a robustly full-bodied palate of more ripe blackberry, along with notes of eucalyptus, clove, and black pepper that stays silky smooth from start to finish.
There's a splash (1%) of Viognier in the 2015 Syrah Nina Lee, which gives up a deeper purple color to go with a terrific bouquet of smoked blueberries, leafy herbs, ground pepper, and lavender. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and balanced, it’s a classic wine from this estate.
