Intrepid aromas of richly peppered blue and black fruit with a sheen of minty refreshment. Structured, polished and densely textured, with indulgent tannins and a penetrating bead of fine acidity. Built for the long haul.
Pure, layered and delicious, the wine is balanced, charming and easy to sip, with moderate tannins. Nicely concentrated blackberries, blueberries and dark chocolate seem to deepen in the glass, filling the palate and lingering on the finish. Blended from 49% malbec, 37% petit verdot and 14% cabernet sauvignon. Drink or hold. -J.G.
What We Thought: A rich, full-bodied Napa red loaded with blackberry, dark cherry, and cocoa, framed by velvety tannins and a long, polished finish. Dense yet refined, it balances ripe fruit with notes of espresso and spice — impressive now, with the structure to age beautifully. -Mat McGraw
