Bright and intense both in colour and aroma. Hyper-fresh, searching berry fruits, this is electric. Rounded, with plump berry fruits that are concentrated and fresh. The tannins are intense too, grippy and strict on the long finish. … Drinking Window: 2030-2045.–M.W.
Opaque ruby. Highly perfumed, mineral and spice-accented red and dark-berry preserve, floral, olive and smoked-meat aromas, along with a spicy nuance that builds steadily in the glass. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering sweet blueberry, cherry-cola, spicecake and espresso flavors, with a touch of black pepper. Finishes very long and smoky, with mounting tannins and repeating florality.–J.R.
What We Thought: True Cornas is never cheap—production is tiny, demand is global, and these steep granite terraces yield just a fraction of what you’d find in Crozes-Hermitage or Côte-Rôtie. To find one this pure and polished under $40 is almost unheard of. Dense, savory Syrah with notes of black fruit, violet, pepper, and smoked meat—all in perfect balance. This is old-school Cornas at its best: powerful, soulful, and absolutely collectible.
