I find the 2014 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza a bit advanced and with more oxidative aromas reminiscent of tea leaves and brick dust, intermixed with creamy oak and some balsamic undertones. The palate is medium-bodied, with marked acidity. 2014 seems like a lighter vintage for earlier drinking. —L.G.
What We Thought: Nine years of bottle age have mellowed this Rioja to the point that it is smooth as silk, medium-bodied, and filled with ripe black cherry fruit and notes of leather and licorice with only the softest of tannins. Drink this one now.
