Powerfully lifted black pepper, rose petal, red cherry, forest floor, liquorice, baking spice and herbal aromatics. Really complex, but still with some polished, soft fruits and a touch more oak spice on the palate. Finishes lengthily. Well-made and youthful, with time to go. Watch this space.
What We Thought: This is winter-night Châteauneuf in full color—ripe black cherry and plum up front, then that classic Rhône mix of cracked pepper, dried herbs, and warm spice. It’s plush without being heavy, with a little grip on the tannins that keeps it honest and food-friendly. Long, savory finish that makes you want a second pour… and suddenly you’re very glad you stayed in . -Mat McGraw
