Aromas of black olive, tobacco leaf, and cocoa. On the palate, well-coated tannins, blackberry fruit, and balanced acidity, with notes of licorice and cedar in the long, lingering finish.—J.O.
The well-known Monte Bello structure leaps out at you, taut and lean, salty, but backed by ample cherry fruit and a touch of oak spice. This wine has concentrated and dark fruit, bright and spicy, a mountain Cabernet through and through. There’s an approachability here, and that is the role of this Cabernet. Elegance married to approachability. Drink 2025-2038.—C.P.
Here's What We Thought:
Deep ruby in the glass, this wine sings of black currant, dark cherry, cedar, and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, dark berry fruit, savory spice, and mountain-fresh acidity meet smooth, elegant tannins. Perfect with grilled ribeye, rosemary lamb, or mushroom risotto—cozy vibes guaranteed.🍷
Fun fact: This Santa Cruz Mountains bottling revives a Ridge label first produced in the late ’70s — proof that classics never go out of style.
