This brand tends to overdeliver, and this bottling is a case in point. Aromas of dark plum and tree bark open up into warmer spices on the nose. The palate shows rounded cherry compote, ample baking spice, and pleasant oak flavors. —M.K.
What We Thought: A spicy red cherry nose and a smooth, medium-bodied black cherry palate define this varietally correct California Pinot Noir value. Notes of five-baking spice and a little oaky vanilla add a little complexity as it finishes round and soft.
