It has alluring aromas of cassis, pencil shavings, dried herbs, leather, and lavender, plus classy touches of oak spice. The full-bodied palate is concentrated and powerful without going over the top. It has abundant, grainy tannins, flinty streaks, and plenty of refreshing acidity to carry the long finish. What We Thought: An expressive nose of cassis, cigar box, and baking spice lead to a robust, full-bodied, almost thick palate filled with very ripe blackberry fruit along with notes of black tea, licorice, vanilla, and herbs finishing with supple but lightly dusty tannins.
