Frankly ripe, offering an enticing gush of açaí, blackberry, and black currant compote notes that roll through carried by warm humus, licorice root, and singed alder notes. A muscular style, this is defined with subtle latent energy through the finish. Best from 2025 through 2037. —J.M.
What We Thought: A classic Napa nose of cedar and cassis leads to a somewhat restrained palate that manages to be robust and full-bodied without being thick or heavy and is filled with ripe blackberry fruit, notes of dark chocolate and vanilla with some serious, drying tannins that will benefit from a short decant or five years in the cellar.
